Hospitals are places that symbolise security for the greater community. They are perceived as places where puzzles are solved, where people are put back together, where illnesses and their causes are worked out. We have produced this work in recognition of all who work within the health system. A hospital isn’t about bricks and mortar; it’s about the individuals that work together as a team. This concept acknowledges the importance of every individual who is part of the bigger picture. ‘Puzzle’ has been designed to be instantly recognisable and therefore intellectually accessible to all. Puzzles generally have cheerful and positive symbolic associations. We have endeavoured to design a work that is user friendly and highly interactive, one that seeks to collaborate with both the architecture and landscape design of the precinct.
