SILENT SENTINELS

BEERWAH TOWER GREEN
Urban Art Award Queensland Architecture Awards 2018

Beerwah Tower Green is a garden for the town to be enjoyed by locals and visitors.
An assemblage of contrasts and synergies that map and layer Beerwah’s landscape, topography and stories.
The ‘Silent Sentinels’ help form the undulating edges of this organic and informal place that provides an inward focussed oasis.
The sculptures reference the monumental stillness and weight of the Glass House Mountain topography.
Locally sourced quarry boulders were carefully chosen for scale, shape and texture; minimally interfered with to retain their as found colour and texture.
The ground plane around and between each standing stone manipulated to express and enhance what potentially may lie beneath the surface.
